ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE OF MOTORCYCLISTOn March 30th, 2012, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Bradshaw Road and Gore Road. A sport utility vehicle with a solo occupant was travelling westbound through the intersection, preparing to turn southbound on Gore Road. The vehicle was struck by a motorcycle travelling northbound through the intersection at the same time. The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, was fatally injured as a result of the collision. Preliminary indications are that the driver of the sport utility vehicle had the right-of-way and was proceeding through the intersection with a green traffic light at the time it was struck. The driver of that vehicle was not injured. The intersection was closed for several hours, and re-opened to through traffic at approximately 10:40 p.m. This accident is being investigated by the Rancho Cordova Police Department. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the RCPD Traffic Unit at (916) 875-9623. The identity of the victim in this incident will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after notification has been made to the victim’s next of kin.
