Air Ops Tweet-Along
On Friday, May 10th, 2013, the Sheriff’s Department will make history by offering the community a “virtual” ride-along via Twitter from our Air Support Unit. This event, also referred to as a “Tweetalong” in the law enforcement community, will allow the public to see what a shift is like for the pilot and observer inside STAR (Sheriff’s Air Support Unit). Tweetalongs are one way for law enforcement agencies to connect with and inform the public through social media.
During the Tweetalong, a deputy will be posting messages, photos and video clips that highlight STAR’s preflight checks, take-offs and interaction with patrol deputies on the ground. People are invited to follow along on their computers at http://twitter.com/sacsheriff.
To have updates sent to a mobile phone, one can create a free Twitter account, and Twitter will send updates directly. For Twitter updates without creating an account, text “follow sacsheriff” to 40404.The Tweetalong is scheduled to run from 5:00 p.m. until approximately midnight.
