Shooting Victim Dies of Injuries
Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting yesterday evening that claimed the life of a Rancho Cordova man. On September 13, 2012 just after 10:30 p.m., a man called the Sheriff’s Department from the 2400 block of Moraine Circle to say that he had been shot. The victim, a 33 year-old male, was transported to a hospital with injuries from multiple gunshot wounds to various parts of his body. He died as a result of his injuries earlier this afternoon.
Sheriff’s deputies and Rancho Cordova police officers responding to the scene discovered the victim seated inside of a vehicle. The victim had no information regarding a suspect(s), or any description of any vehicle(s) that may have been involved. A neighborhood canvass did not yield any information of immediate evidentiary value.
No motive has been established for this crime, and investigation into the incident is ongoing. Anyone having pertinent information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (916) 874-5115, Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP, or send a text message tip to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter SACTIP followed by the tip information. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
The name of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office after notification has been made to his next of kin.
