Man found dead outside business

Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a man’s death outside of a business in the 2800 block of La Loma Drive. The victim, who was discovered by emergency medical personnel responding to the call of an injured person, was found outside of the Cordova Pet Clinic. He had extensive trauma to his head and upper body, and was pronounced dead by paramedics when they responded to the scene.

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. tonight, Sacramento Metro Fire Department personnel contacted the Rancho Cordova Police Department after they were notified of a man who needed medical treatment at the aforementioned veterinary hospital at 2890 La Loma Drive. Upon their arrival, fire personnel located a male adult lying next to a bicycle, directly outside of the business. The victim sustained significant injuries and was declared dead, although the cause of his injuries was not readily known.

Investigators were attempting to contact the original complainant to the Fire Department, in order to gain any additional information pertinent to how the victim was injured. A canvass of the immediate area was conducted, but at the time of this release no information regarding any suspect(s) was available, and a motive for this incident had not been determined.
