Chief Doug Diamond of the Rancho Cordova Police Department (RCPD) is offering residents, business owners and employees of Rancho Cordova businesses the opportunity to take a look inside law enforcement.

RCPD’s Citizens' Academy is designed to foster improved relationships and communication between citizens and police through education.

Taught by police executives and veteran officers, the Citizens' Academy will give members of the community the opportunity to learn about policing in today’s society.  During the academy, students will be introduced to RCPD’s history and structure, patrol procedures, criminal laws, laws of arrest, investigations, and other select topics.

Eligible candidates for the academy must be a minimum of 21 years old, live or work in the City of Rancho Cordova, have NO prior felony convictions and NO misdemeanor arrests within one year of application.

The 8-week spring session of the academy will be held at the Police Service Center, 10361 Rockingham Drive in Sacramento on Wednesday nights from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm beginning April 13, 2011 and ending June 1, 2011.

This is a free service and there is no registration fee required to attend. For questions or further information, please contact academy coordinator Sgt. Greg Johnson at 916-875-5710 or gjohnson@ranchocordovapd.com
