Homicide On 44th Street

On February 7, 2008, at 6:00 p.m., Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the report of a stabbing at a home in the 5000 block of 44th Street. Deputies arrived and found a 63-year old white male inside the home suffering from multiple stab wounds to his upper body. Paramedics arrived shortly thereafter and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Witnesses inside the home told Deputies the suspect, a 51-year old Hispanic male who was the victim’s roommate, had fled the scene on foot. A short time later, Deputies located the suspect in the immediate vicinity and took him into custody without incident.

Investigators believe the victim and the suspect had a verbal argument which led to the stabbing. Neither a motive for the stabbing, nor the reason why the subjects were arguing has been determined.
