RCPD Receives New State Grant
Rancho Cordova Police will be able to expand their efforts against drunk drivers thanks to a $127,400 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).
“We have always been pro-active in apprehending and citing drunk drivers but this grant will enable us to maintain current programs plus develop new operations,” said Sergeant Jerry Lane of the Rancho Cordova Police Department who will oversee the grant program.
Current operations include DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols. The DUI Enforcement and Awareness Program grant will fund additional patrols and DUI enforcement measures. The grant-funded operations will begin October 1st.
“The whole purpose of ramping up our DUI enforcement programs is to protect our residents and visitors. We want to do everything in our power to reduce the number of DUI’s and alcohol-related collisions to keep Rancho Cordova safe,” Sergeant Lane continued.
