Free Senior Citizen Academy

Chief Rueben Meeks of the Rancho Cordova Police Department is offering the senior residents of Rancho Cordova a fun informative day of learning.

The Rancho Cordova Police Department’s Senior Citizens Academy is designed to educate the senior community of a variety of issues related to being a senior citizen.

Taught by police officers, the Senior Citizens Academy will give senior members of the community the opportunity to learn about avoiding becoming a victim of scams, fraud schemes, identity theft and elder abuse.  Participants will also learn about safe driving and disaster preparedness.

Eligible candidates for the academy must be a senior citizen living in the City of Rancho Cordova.

The academy will be held at the Police Service Center, 10361 Rockingham Drive on Thursday, February 19 2009 from 9am – 4pm.

This is a free service and there is no registration fee required to attend.  All applicants must register by February 13, 2009 at 5:00pm.  Registration can be completed by calling  Shannon Ludington at 875-5852 or emailing sludington@ranchocordovapd.com.
