Free Senior Citizen AcademyChief Rueben Meeks of the Rancho Cordova Police Department is offering the senior residents of Rancho Cordova a fun informative day of learning. The Rancho Cordova Police Department’s Senior Citizens Academy is designed to educate the senior community of a variety of issues related to being a senior citizen. Taught by police officers, the Senior Citizens Academy will give senior members of the community the opportunity to learn about avoiding becoming a victim of scams, fraud schemes, identity theft and elder abuse. Participants will also learn about safe driving and disaster preparedness. Eligible candidates for the academy must be a senior citizen living in the City of Rancho Cordova. The academy will be held at the Police Service Center, 10361 Rockingham Drive on Thursday, February 19 2009 from 9am – 4pm. This is a free service and there is no registration fee required to attend.
