Youth Academy Application Extension
Chief Reuben Meeks extends the application deadline for the Rancho Cordova Police Department’s 2009 Youth Police Academies. The Academy will be open to eligible children who are 12-14 years old and who reside within the city limits of Rancho Cordova. Academy cadets will be introduced to the core functions of policing, including criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, and crime scene processing. Cadets will have the unique opportunity to interact and learn from law enforcement officers in a safe environment and learn through team building exercises, classroom instruction, and numerous hands-on training activities. Also being offered this summer is the Advanced Youth Academy for the cadets who participated in the Youth Academy last summer. The advanced session will take a more hands on approach to learning about law enforcement and will focus on team building. The Youth Police Academy is a two week session and will be held July 13 – 24, 2009 from 8:00am – 1:00pm at the Rancho Cordova Police Department Service Center. The Advanced Youth Police Academy will be a one week session and will be held July 27 – 31, 2009 from 8:00am – 2:00pm at the Rancho Cordova Police Department Service Center. Application packages are available now for both sessions. No application will be accepted after 5:00pm on Friday, June 19, 2009. Packages can be obtained at the Police Service Center or are available for download by following the below links.
