Homicide on Bainbridge Drive – Suspect Arrested

On September 20, 2018, at 12:22 p.m. the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call from the 3700 block of Bainbridge Drive in north Sacramento.  The caller indicated there were two male adults fighting.  The caller further explained one of the males was bleeding and the other was leaving the scene in a vehicle.

Sheriff’s Department personnel responded along with fire department medics.  Upon arrival at the scene, first responders located the victim and he was transported to an area hospital for treatment.  The victim sustained multiple stab wounds during the violent physical encounter with the suspect.  Despite the life-saving efforts of first responders and doctors, the victim later died at the hospital.

Deputies on the scene began following up on investigative leads and identified a possible suspect in the assault.  Deputies later located the suspect at a nearby residence along with items linking him to the incident.  The suspect was identified as 54-year-old Michael Womack of Sacramento.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin their investigation and later arrested Womack for his involvement in this homicide.  It was determined the victim was the adult foster brother of Womack.  Womack is being held in the Sacramento County Main Jail for murder.  Due to his charges, he is ineligible for bail at this time.

The identity of the victim, in this case, will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office after notification has been made to his next of kin.
