HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION IN NORTH HIGHLANDS
On Thursday, October 18, 2018, at 8:45 p.m., the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Communications Center received several 911 calls from the 5500 block of Harrison Street in North Highlands. The callers indicated there was a shooting at the location and there was possibly one person shot.
Deputies responded to the scene and located a male victim who had sustained at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. Upon locating the male, deputies discovered a citizen performing CPR on him. Deputies also began providing first aid but unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead by responding fire department personnel.
Homicide detectives have responded to the scene along with crime scene investigators and they will remain at the scene into the early morning hours. Detectives will be interviewing witnesses and speaking with neighbors while attempting to determine what took place. At this time, there is no known motive and the Sheriff’s Department has not identified any suspects.
Vehicular traffic in the area will not be impacted as a result of this incident.
The identity of the victim, in this case, will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office after notification has been made to his next of kin.
