On October 31, 2018, at 1:33 a.m., the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Communications Center received a call regarding a female who had been shot in the 5800 block of Antelope Road. Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the location, which is a retail shopping center and found the victim unresponsive and suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
After receiving the initial call, the Sheriff’s Department received several additional calls regarding multiple shots being fired at the location following people yelling.
Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detectives are currently on the scene along with crime scene investigators identifying, collecting, and preserving evidence. Deputies are speaking with witnesses while attempting to piece together what took place leading up to the shooting.
At this time, detectives have not yet established a motive and have not identified any suspects. Sheriff’s Department personnel will be on the scene throughout the day and a portion of the shopping center will be closed as detectives investigate. At this point, there are no road closures or traffic delays expected.
The identity of the victim, in this case, will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office after notification has been made to his next of kin.
