On Monday, December 17, 2018, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies located a man wanted in connection with an armed carjacking and an attempted armed carjacking which occurred on December 15, 2018, in the City of Elk Grove. The suspect was previously identified by Elk Grove Police Department Detectives as 42-year-old Travis York of Sacramento and was also a wanted parolee-at-large. Elk Grove Police Department Detectives secured a $1,000,000.00 Ramey Warrant for York’s arrest.
While in the area of Truxel Road and Interstate 80, in the City of Sacramento, two Sheriff’s Deputies located the suspect traveling as a passenger in a vehicle being driven by a female. Sheriff’s Deputies followed the vehicle into a shopping center in the 3200 block of Truxel Road. Shortly after the vehicle arrived in the parking lot, an officer-involved shooting occurred.
The material being released has been identified as significant to this incident and includes radio traffic, in-car camera video, and closed-circuit television video.
All videos being released have been minimally redacted to ensure the confidentiality and privacy of those involved. Audio redactions are signified by muted audio with no accompanying sound. This is an active investigation. The information provided in this video release is preliminary and subject to change as investigators learn more.
