Arrest in South Sacramento Homicide

On April 30, 2019, The Sacramento Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect of a homicide that occurred in South Sacramento on April 14, 2019. After detectives developed credible information that the suspect may be fleeing to Mexico, the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office worked in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to bring the suspect into custody.

On May 12, 2019, Joshua Thomas Vaden was arrested in Tijuana, Mexico by the Tijuana Police Department. Yesterday, Vaden was deported back to the United States where he is currently being held without bail (See attached photo).

The Sacramento Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the FBI and the San Diego Sheriff’s Department for their assistance in bringing Vaden to justice.

Detectives are still seeking the identity of a person of interest in this case (see attached photo). The victim’s vehicle also remains outstanding and has been identified as a gray 2017 Ford Fiesta with Illinois plate AM73381 (see attached photo).

Background Information:

At 2:02pm on Sunday April 14, 2019, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a deceased male inside a residence in the 7000 block of Peevey Court in South Sacramento.

Detectives responded and determined the male was the victim of a homicide.
