On February 10th, 2019 at approximately 1400 hours, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to what was initially reported as vehicle vs. pedestrian hit and run in Isleton. CHP conducted an investigation and were unable to find any evidence of a collision. It was later discovered that the victim, Steven Schmidt, had been beaten and was not the victim of a hit and run.
Schmidt was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased by medical staff on March 4th, 2019.
The Sheriff’s Department began a homicide investigation and concluded that Schmidt had been robbed and beaten by Etuate “Horse” Faiva, Manuel “Lil Manny” Hook, and Antoinette Jiminez. Warrants were issued for their arrests.
On May 23, 2019, Antoinette Jiminez was arrested on the charge of robbery for her participation in the events that led to Schmidt’s death. Faiva and Hook are currently in custody at the Contra Costa County jail on unrelated charges. They will be transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail to face charges of murder (Faiva) and robbery (Hook).
