New RCPD Officer Supports the Folsom-Olson-Zinfandel Area
RCPD has a new Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Officer to support the Folsom-Olson-Zinfandel (FOZ) area – Officer Shannon Borge!
Officer Borge became interested in a career in law enforcement when she was working as a court reporter at the Downtown Courthouse. Her family is dedicated to public service. She is one of five members currently in law enforcement and several have served in the military.
In 2015, Officer Borge graduated from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Academy and began working for the Sheriff’s Office. She has worked at the Main Jail, Courthouse, Crime Scene Investigation, and Patrol, and she is also a member of the Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard Detail. In April, she joined RCPD as a patrol officer.
“Rancho Cordova is close to my home and where I shop, and I have friends who live and own businesses here,” said Officer Borge. “It’s a great city with a hometown feel.”
In July, Officer Borge was selected as the new POP FOZ Officer. Officer Borge’s goal is build relationships with businesses, employees and customers and develop long-term solutions to address concerns in the area. One of her first focuses is starting a Business Watch to bring neighboring businesses together in partnership with RCPD.
“The FOZ area is one of the most highly visited shopping centers in the City of Rancho Cordova,” said Officer Borge. “RCPD hopes to continue creating a safe and enjoyable experience for those who do business, shop and dine there.”
The new POP FOZ Officer position is funded by the City of Rancho Cordova’s Community Enhancement Fund, a ½ cent, voter-approved sales tax that supports local priorities. For the 2019/2020 fiscal year, the Community Enhancement Fund provides an additional $1.4 million in funding to the $22 million+ annual police budget.
Come meet Officer Borge at the next Neighborhood Watch meeting on Tuesday, August 20 at 6 PM at 2897 Kilgore Road, Rancho Cordova. If you have questions or feedback about the FOZ area, please contact Officer Borge at firstname.lastname@example.org.
