Press Release: U.S. Marshal Officer Involved Shooting Investigation

Shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Thursday August 22, 2019, U.S. Marshals, working with DEA agents to serve a DEA search warrant, were involved in an officer-involved shooting resulting in a non-life threatening injury in the 9900 block of Palm Grove Drive in Rancho Cordova.

U.S. Marshals knocked and announced their police presence and made entry into the residence and were confronted by a male individual pointing a firearm at team members. As a direct result of the threat, law enforcement fired and struck the man, who sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his hand. Team members immediately took him into custody and rendered first aid until emergency medical services arrived.

As a result of the search warrant, the initial subject was located. Both were arrested and multiple firearms were discovered.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting incident. DEA continues its investigation.
