The Citizens Academy program will feature an 11-week course to provide our residents with information about the police department and its proactive policing programs, as well as tools and resources residents can use to help prevent crime. Academy participants will learn about the divisions of RCPD, laws of arrest, patrol procedures, investigations, and other topics. Plus, this year's academy will feature tours of the Sacramento County Main Jail, District Attorney's Crime Lab and Sacramento County Sheriff's Office Museum.
Applications for the Spring 2026 Citizen's Academy are now open.
The Spring 2026 academy will be held on Tuesdays beginning March 10, 2026, through May 19, 2026, from 6 PM to 8 PM.
Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old, live or work in the City of Rancho Cordova or Sacramento County East Division, have no prior felony convictions, and have no misdemeanor arrests within one year of application.
