E-bikes, e-scooters and other motorized devices are becoming more common in Rancho Cordova. Before riding, it is important to know what type of device you have, what rules apply and how to ride safely.

Understanding the differences between e-bikes, e-scooters, mopeds and e-motorcycles helps keep riders, pedestrians, drivers and school communities safe.

Riding Safely Near Schools

Students and families should take extra care when riding near schools. Riders should obey all traffic laws, ride defensively, watch for pedestrians and vehicles, and cross streets only at intersections and crosswalks.

When arriving on school grounds, students should get off their bike or scooter and walk it directly to the bike racks. Bikes and scooters should not be ridden on school sidewalks, through parking lots or across campus.

Students should also lock bikes and scooters properly and follow their school’s campus rules.
